About

      Etwene means "Bridge" in the Ghanaian tribal language Twi. This name has a two-fold symbolism, first being the transition from teens into adulthood and second the connection of people and relationships this transition requires to be successful.  We will strive to be a  bridge that allows young adults to transition from their teen years into adulthood with success and purpose. We will provide the housing, tools, connections and opportunities they will need to thrive in their faith in Jesus and become contributing members in their society, churches and families.

After many years of doing some mission work in Ghana we discovered that as students finished high school and  left the orphanages they grew up in, a plan was lacking in how to transition them into society. The mentoring and opportunities that most young adults need as they begin to navigate life on their own was not available. For most that have families there are parents to help, be a support and give guidance as they transition. When that is not available these young adults are left to discover how to wade through the many uncertainties, changes, and new independence on their own. Often this is the season of life where many fall through the cracks and lose their way.

At Etwene we want to help stop this pattern. Our first priority is to be a place of mentorship and making true disciples of Jesus. We desire to give them tools and opportunities to grow in their faith and make it their own as they dive into a world that will try to distract  and paralyze them. We will also provide them with a place to live as they transition to the next steps, either to a university, trade school, or other job opportunities. We will work on increasing our partnerships with local churches, businesses and organizations in Ghana so that there will be job opportunities for them. We want to help them understand their strengths and gifts that God has given them so that they can find work and meaningful purpose in their lives.
