Firm Foundations

As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”

1 Peter 2:4-6 ESV

A foundation is the strength and support of any building, it doesn't matter how good the framing is, if the foundation is weak or bad it will not stand. As followers of Jesus we know that our foundation is Jesus Christ, He is what gives us our strength, support and is the only things we can trust to build our lives upon. Our greatest desire is for our students to build their lives on this sure foundation and learn how to trust in His secure Truth as their cornerstone for the rest of their lives.

Each of our students have Jesus as their foundation and now we are watching, guiding, and encouraging them as they began to build on top of this Firm Foundation. It is incredible to witness them learning and studying God's word and how to apply it to their own lives. They have daily readings and the opportunity to ask questions and give their thoughts as they come up. I often marvel at their courage to ask the hard questions or admit they don't understand something. They are demonstrating a desire to understand God through His word and let that shape their minds which will then impact how they build, what choices they will make, and how they see God and themselves. Observing them as they investigate and began sketching out the blueprints that God is revealing to them for their lives constantly humbles and astounds us. It is invigorating to encourage them as they lay piece by piece the framework that will shape their lives going forward. Please pray for these young men to seek God's manual as they build every day. Pray they will take each step and do it with excellence and purpose as they lay out their plans and discover God's purpose for their lives.

“Unless the LORD builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted…” Psalm 127:1a

This principle of a firm foundation and building applies to us as a ministry also. We desire to be basing all we do on Christ and letting Him direct us as we build this ministry and trust Him for our needs and provision for these young men. He has been so faithful and exceeded our expectations time and time again. Please pray for God's wisdom as we mentor and shepherd our students. Another area we would like to help firm and strengthen is our monthly giving. We have been blessed with incredible donations to take care of all our students monthly needs and tuitions, but it is those faithful monthly donations that help us when life happens.... a student gets sick, an appliance breaks, or there is a new leak in the bathroom! If you would be willing to be among those that can faithfully give even $10/month would you click on the DONATE button? You can set up monthly giving so you do not even need to remember every month, I can confidently say you will be blessed and probably most of us would not even really notice the absence of that $10 but it would grow to help us ensure those unknown needs are provided when they pop up! Thank you for your prayers and support. You are directly changing the lives of a few young men that are stiving to build a house that will thrive and glorify the ONE that they are building on, Jesus.
