Today the students met with Pastor Yaw (Director) and Akolgo (mentor) for a time of feasting and training! One of the most essential things as followers of Christ we need to do is spend time digging into God's Word. However most of us don't really know how to do this well and find ourselves just picking random passages to read quickly and mark it off our list of things to do for the day. God however, wants us to sit, chew on His word, and take it in. One of my favorite Bible Study leaders, Kristi McLelland, compares it to feasting! We are to sit down with the Father and enjoy a time of fellowship where we take in His word and digest it, let it become part of us, nourish us and fill us. This means we take a little time, meditate and evaluate His word piece by piece.
Today not only did the boys feast together on physical food but also learned how to feast on Gods Word as they learned a simple study method called S.O.A.P. This simple 4 step method allows them to think a little deeper and apply the scriptures to their own personal lives. As they mature and grow in this area it allows them to expand into deeper study also. f
Please pray for all of us as we began to study Gods Word together and as these students begin making this a daily practice in their own lives. Pray that they will hunger and thirst for this time in God's Word and they can discover how to implement this discipline into their daily routines.
