Sit down and get comfortable for a few minutes this post will be a little overhaul of the last few weeks! We pray that you all had a wonderful Christmas season and felt the presence of Emmanuel as you celebrated with family and friends.
Our last post we shared about our "shepherds" that were experiencing first hand what it takes to care for tend to a sheep. It was a great way for them to think about Christ birth as well as what it means for Him to be their Good Shepherd. When Christmas arrived it was time for the feast, yup that sheep they had tended was to be used for a "sacrifice" just like the Bethlehem shepherds would also be doing. This was another great way for them to look at what it means that Jesus was our sacrificial lamb. As they celebrated His birth they remembered what it was Christ was born for.... He was born so that He could pay the price for our sins and lay down His life so that we could have life! It was a God ordained Advent activity that will hopefully leave a lasting impression on all of the boys. Christmas Day the boys also did a beautiful time of sharing letters they wrote to Jesus, a time of being vulnerable in front of each other as well as honoring Jesus with their own gifts of praise and thanks.
A few days before Christmas we also has the joy of welcoming our 6th student into Etwene! We are excited to introduce you to Nathaniel! He was able to move in just in time to celebrate Christmas and share in all the festivities. Next week we will do a full post about him so be on the look out for that!
That brings us to New Years, the boys all attended a Watch Party that was hosed be the church they attend. A watch party is a 4-5 hour worship service full of music, prayers, preaching and celebration as they welcome in the New Year. It is a powerful way to start of 2025. On New Years Day Yaw and Akolgo did an evening training on how to study your Bible using the SOAP method. Our newer students had not yet had much experience with this and we wanted to be sure all of them could start this year with some extra tools to dig deeper into God's Word.
